How To Open Account with Forex Broker | How to Use MT5 in English
An English walkthrough from Equity Global English of opening a forex broker account and using MetaTrader 5.
A forex chart is a price for one currency measured in another. That price is the currency pair. Until the two names and the direction make sense, candlesticks are just coloured rectangles. This page is the quote itself, written for someone about to study in Dubai or online from another emirate.
It is the first step in forex education in the UAE, before candlesticks and before market structure. The live version of that order is the Basic to Intermediate track on the courses page.
EUR/USD is the US dollar price of one euro. The euro is the base, written first. The dollar is the quote, written second. If EUR/USD rises, the euro bought more dollars. If it falls, the euro bought fewer. You do not need a platform to learn that sentence. You do need it before a class, or the chart is a picture with no subject.
The same reading works for every pair. GBP/USD is the dollar price of one pound. USD/JPY is the yen price of one dollar. When the dollar is the base, a rising chart means the dollar strengthened against the currency on the right. When the dollar is the quote, a rising chart means the other currency strengthened against the dollar. Say that out loud once for the pair you intend to watch. If you cannot, the rest of the lesson will slide off.
Most majors are quoted to four decimal places. A move of 0.0001 is one pip. USD/JPY is the usual exception: it is quoted to two decimal places, and one pip is 0.01. The full note on how large a position should be, in dirhams, is how much to risk per trade. The pair tells you the price. It does not tell you the size.
A first chart should be a major: a pair that includes the US dollar and trades all through the London and New York day. These are the symbols a beginner class in Dubai actually puts on the screen.
Pick one. EUR/USD on a one-hour chart is a complete brief for a first private hour. Five pairs is a tour, and the hour ends before anyone has corrected a level. If you already watch one of these at work or on a phone, bring that one. The preparation note is how to prepare for a one-to-one class.
The UAE dirham is pegged to the US dollar, at about 3.67 dirhams per dollar. Salaries, rent, and savings in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the other emirates are already in a currency that moves with the dollar. That is why a USD pair is a natural first chart. You are not learning a third unit of money before you learn the picture. You are learning how another currency is priced in the one your dirhams already track.
The peg does not make a dollar pair calm, and it does not turn a dirham balance into a dollar balance. The broker still shows profit and loss in the account currency you chose. If that account is in dollars, you convert to dirhams when you move money, not on every candle. Ask which currency the account will use when you enquire. The class can mark EUR/USD either way.
Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain use the same dirham and the same Gulf Standard Time as Dubai. The quote does not change because you are online. The Abu Dhabi course page is about the drive, not a different set of pairs.
XAU/USD is the dollar price of one troy ounce of gold. Dubai students ask about it constantly, and it belongs on the same MetaTrader 5 watchlist as EUR/USD. It is a metal priced in dollars, not a currency against a currency. It can move harder than a major, and the spread is often wider. Learn one major first. Add gold when you can already say which side of EUR/USD is the base. The page that covers gold, indices, and stocks on the same platform is the stock market course in Dubai.
A cross has no US dollar. EUR/GBP is the pound price of one euro. It is a real market, and it is a poor first chart, because you are tracking two moving currencies with no dollar anchor. An exotic pairs a major currency with a currency that trades less, which usually means a wider spread and a chart that jumps. Neither belongs in week one.
If a video or a chat room starts you on a cross because "that is where the move is today", you have skipped the quote. Come back to one major. The areas where that major has stalled are in support and resistance. The session that usually tests them, in UAE time, is in forex market hours in Dubai.
Basic to Intermediate starts from this vocabulary, then candles, then structure. Advanced Institutional Strategies assumes you can already point at the pair and the swing. Booking the advanced track to avoid learning the quote means paying to hear this page inside a harder hour. The topic lists are on forex trading courses. Where smart money words sit, after structure, is smart money concepts.
A group class uses one shared symbol so the cohort can see the same quote. A private lesson can stay on the pair you already watch. Both run in person in Dubai, UAE, and online across the UAE, with live trading sessions. The comparison is private versus group classes. People fitting the hour around a job should read forex classes for working professionals.
Open the pair on MetaTrader 5 before the first lesson. The English recording below is a walkthrough of the platform and of opening a broker account, so you can find Market Watch and type EURUSD. It does not teach the quote on its own. Practical sessions at the academy use StarTrader, an SCA-regulated broker. The account is separate from the course fee. The written install steps are in how to start on MT5. Stay on a demo until the symbol and the buttons are familiar. That difference is in demo versus live on MT5.
